The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee would like to award June’s Yard of the Month to Thomas and Traci Hays at 1933 State Route 9. The couple has lived in this charming home for seven years, but Thomas grew up there as a child. Their landscaping includes several areas decorated with beautiful Purple Irises, Mountain Bluet, Black Eyed Susan, Daylilies, Hostas and Hydrangeas. Traci takes great pride in her yard and spends hours each week caring for her plants. She always chooses specific flowers to assist with pollination. The new Rumpled Queen restaurant on Broadway was an easy choice for the May Business of the Month Award. It’s not only beautifully appointed on the outside with a variety of flowers, bushes, trees and an outdoor dining area complete with water feature,  it’s beautifully appointed on the inside with thrifted finds, antiques and collected treasures.
