Continue reading →The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce’s Beautification Committee would like to award June’s Yard of the Month to Thomas and Traci Hays at 1933 State Route 9. The couple has lived in this charming home for seven years, but Thomas grew up there as a child. Their landscaping includes several areas decorated with beautiful Purple Irises, Mountain Bluet, Black Eyed Susan, Daylilies, Hostas and Hydrangeas. Traci takes great pride in her yard and spends hours each week caring for her plants. She always chooses specific flowers to assist with pollination. The Beautification Committee of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to award Heritage Union Title Company, located at 280 N. Ellsworth, with Business of the Month for June. For many years, the business was located on Broadway Ave, but the entire structure was moved to its current location several decades ago. It’s not only beautifully appointed on the outside with a variety of flowers, bushes, trees and an outdoor dining area complete with water feature, it’s beautifully appointed on the inside with thrifted finds, antiques and collected treasures. Annie Gano, owner and head chef, wanted to create a space where people could come and feel at home while enjoying good food. The Salem Beautification Committee has started their search for the 2025 “House of the Month” winners. The well-deserved May award goes to Ryan and Sidney Connolly of 351 Washington Ave. The Connolly’s have lived in their home since 2020, and each year, have added more color and interest through annuals, perennials and cozy seating options. Sidney is truly a three season gardener. This spring, one could find daffodils, tulips, purple hyacinths, azaleas, rhodederon, lily of the valley and bleeding hearts adorning her front yard.
